Victorias-Secret-Models-Traumhafte-Haarstylen-Ombre-Hair

We love to love them….but what about the Victoria Secret models do we love the most?  If I had to pick only one thing I would hands down say “their hair”.  What’s a great body without great hair?!  It would appear that each model was blessed with all the extras….body, hair, perfect smile and alluring looks.  But alas the hours of the gym, personal trainers and living on egg whites is only part of the work.  Being beautiful and looking that good is hard work.  As an ex fitness model I remember the countless hours in the gym and the thought of chicken breast and fish day in and day out used to be a little depressing.  Mostly because I am a fan of pizza and spaghetti!

But what is not a downer…is the common use of hair extensions.  Yes, the ladies of Victorias Secret rock clip in hair extensions just like us.  Hours in the gym and healthy eating can’t give us the hair that we want or deserve.  Thankfully, this little note of information means that they are human too!  Feels good to know that they have to add a little “here and there” to have the locks we all wish we were born with.

pinupmomma-imp

What can I say?!  I love this chick!  Her handle is #pinupmommma  and she is true to her name.  Her goal was to create a set of clip in hair extensions that would add volume and slight length but more so add to her already look which was an ombre.  Her challenge with her own hair is that her ends were impossible to lift to a blonde tone.  As a stylist I totally understand the challenge because my own hair is much like that.  The difference is that my hair would break off before giving me the blonde tone I was in search for.  I know this because I so badly wanted the ombre last summer.  Instead I was left with broken ends….but luckily hair extensions always fix my hair drama.

Here is what she said

I just had to take a second to tell you just how much I LOVE these!!!! I finally have the ombrè I’ve been trying so hard to attain. They were well worth the wait and you did a phenomenal job matching my color!! thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU.

Salt in your perspiration combined with the hard water used to shampoo our hair contain minerals that build up causing dry brittle hair AND can cause flaky, itchy scalp.

A question I often ask my guests is…”are you on city water?, well water? or filtered water?”.  There is a big difference in how your hair reacts to literally everything that touches it.  Hair is a dead fiber and it absorbs more than you can imagine.

One packet of Malibu Extensions & Hair Systems Weekly Treatments can add a little pep in your step!  These little packets of miracles deliver freshly activated ingredients!  Which helps hard water minerals which lead to discoloration.

– Crystalized vitamin technology stops oxidative action to prevent breakage.

– Prepares the hair for successful attachment of your new extensions.  So YES!  Do this at home before you head to your favorite hair extensions professional.

– Gently, yet effectively cleanses extensions and hair pieces!  Gentle wins the race.  Leaving the hair clean and not weighed down.

– Draws out malicious perspiration salts and minerals to remove brassiness prior to extension service to ensure correct color match.

– Maintains healthy scalp layers for optimal hair growth.  It also soothes dry and irritated scalps.

– Deeply penetrates to enhance moisture retention

How-to-Apply-Clip-In-Hair-Extensions

-First, brush your hair with a paddle brush to get rid of any knots and tangles. Then section the hair at the nape of the neck and clip in the 3 clip piece.  Find the centre of the weft first and clip in the middle clip and follow with the left and right clip.

*A great tip for making sure that your clips don’t slide down is to backcomb and hairspray the roots of the section to create a strong grip for the clips to grip onto. This is super beneficial for girls with finer hair, too.  However, Studio She® clip in hair extensions are made with clips that have a special silicone back that provides extra grip!

-Section the hair from the top of your ear upwards and clip in weft with 4 clips by opening the clips up, finding the centre and clipping the middle clip, then left and right clips into the hair. Repeat the same step by sectioning the hair and clipping in weft with three clips.

Each set has two 3 clips and one 4 clip.  These pieces are for the back of the head.  There are two 2 clips that marry the back to the sides of the head followed by two 2 clips which are for above the ear and fill in the spaces as needed depending on how you part your hair.

I have very fine hair so I can only wear 5 pieces of a 7 piece set.  Sometimes I will use the 4 clip piece to add volume and simply wrap a bun for an easy quick trending look!

Questions?  Just ask

Every 7 years fashion repeats it self.  Was it really only 7 years that pastels were in style?!  Has anyone realized that 7 years ago, African American women were wearing the Ombre?  I know this because I import hair from all over the world and it was a big thing back in the d-a-y to order hair on a weft with a line of demarcation. The root and mid shaft/ends were two completely opposite colors.

I have begun hand making custom Ombre and Pastel Tie Dye Hair Extensions for some large salons in New York and Custom orders for females in Australia, Canada, United States and Portugal.  It has been an awesome experience.  Time consuming but wonderful.  I use only the best REMY hair and professional color with extreme stay power!

Clip In extensions are sold in 70 grams, 100 grams and 200 grams.

70 gram clip in extensions are typically single wefts.  They are less bulky and provide a hint of color.  Almost as if your own hair was hand dipped.  Weightless and gorgeous. Perfect for someone like myself, with thin, fine hair.

100 gram clip in extensions are just a little more volume and a thicker weft.  More for someone with medium density hair.  You can feel a bit of weight but its not over the top.

200 grams…lets face it, this person already has thick hair and wants more length and volume.  In my wildest dreams I could pull this off!  Wearing something this heavy will cause damage on fine/thin hair.  However, the overall look is AMAZING!

I am a big fan of Lily Aldridge.  Mostly because off camera she is always sporting Free People clothing which also embodies my walk in closet.  She has a boho vibe and her beauty is flawless, with or without makeup.

Her hair secret?  She is madly in love with the ombre and sombre.  In a recent interview with Elle Magazine she mentioned that she loves the look because it is “beachy”.  Her hair secret is her colorist and Omega 3 vitamins.

I am also OBSESSED with her colorist Tracey Cunningham who recently opened a hair salon in Los Angeles and is known to grace the heads of Drew Barrymore, Kim Kardashian, Kate Upton, Cameron Diaz, Khloe Kardashian and the list goes on.  Basically she is the IT colorist that I would like to re-incarnate as. *just saying!

Both gorgeous and dare I just put it out there…they are fans of hair extensions.  Without them the length and volume wouldn’t be possible.  Why damage your own hair when you can use hair extensions to add the color and do all the work for you?!

Who wins the battle of the ombre?

I know you get what you pay for, I have been doing this as a profession for a long time.  I am a firm believer in quality fiber…AND not taking advantage of the consumer.  However, paying $2500 for something and not being happy AND having keratin bonds that are almost 1″ long, is ludicrous.

Unfortunately, even I have had this happen!  I moved to this country, with the  intentions of working at my husbands business.  Thousands of dollars spent and wasted on a job done wrong!  It was that very experience that encouraged me to open my business in the United States.

We happily gained a new client from another salon…

Her photos tell the story…

The fee for her unfinished hair extensions was $2500!  The stylist told her this is the same line of Russian hair that Kim Kardashian wears.  The hair extensions were too long, resembled a mullet and barely resembled that of Kim Kardashian.  OH and look at the size of those bonds!

Her only option…was a ponytail!  That’s a very expensive ponytail….

Here is a finished photo of what we did…a combination of cold fusion and warm fusion.  The perfect relationship!  Re-usable hair at half the price!

The shampoo isle; products promising us the hair we always dreamed of.  Big Sexy Hair, Volume Plus, Body Envy…sounds pretty amazing.  If you have hair like myself, these products work for a hot minute!  At times I think my own hair has a mind of its own.  I’ve never been a follower, so why would my hair be either?!   But, at the end of the day, this girl need some volume!

Recently I went to an Aveda salon for a blowout.  The stylist was wonderful and suggested we try their new Hair Growth Shampoo and Conditioner.  My first instinct was that this could be a bad thing but her enthusiasm for this new product was sweet.  My instinct was right, my extensions have not been the same since.  Opening the cuticle as little or as much as it did, was harmful to my hair extensions.  Dry is an understatement!  Even the ends needed to be trimmed 2 inches.

Volumizing products and Hair Growth Stimulator products open/raise the cuticle.  This causes tangling and also the extensions to dry out.

Looking for volume @ the root level and feeling a little discouraged?  Read the previous blog about products that you can use to add some “lift” in your life without damaging your extensions.
